When it comes to shipping your vehicle to/from Hawaii, at least part of the shipping journey will have to be done overseas. This involves shipping your vehicle on a carrier ship that holds all kinds of goods that require overseas shipment. For this part of the auto transport service, there are a few different options we offer that will allow you to have your vehicle carried safely and securely across the Pacific Ocean. Our main services are Roll-On/Roll-Off and Container Shipping. To learn more about roll-on/roll-off shipping, you can read a post all about the shipping style here! To learn more about our container shipping, please keep reading!
Container shipping keeps your vehicle enclosed while overseas.
With roll-on/roll-off shipping, your vehicle is left out on the main deck of the ship as it is literally rolled onto the boat by its own wheels. It is kept out on the deck while the ship is moving, making it the equivalent of our open car transport. Your vehicle is exposed to the open air while on the go. However, container shipping is the opposite of this. Instead of being shipped on its own on the deck, your vehicle is kept inside a container while on the move. The container serves as a giant box to hold your vehicle while it is shipped across the ocean.
How does container shipping work?
Our container shipping works quite simply! First, no matter if you are shipping to or from Hawaii, your vehicle is shipped by land like it would for any other auto transport service. Your vehicle is then taken to the port in which it will ship out from and is loaded into a container there on the loading dock. Your vehicle is secured into place within the container and loaded onto the ship with the help of loading cranes.
What are the pros of container shipping?
Shipping your vehicle in a container keeps it extra safe while on the water. It avoids any risk of damage from the natural elements, such as sun damage, water damage, or wind damage. Every vehicle that can fit within a container is eligible to be shipped using our container shipping. However, just like our land enclosed auto transport service, container shipping is most often booked for vehicles that are luxury, vintage, or exotic.
What can be shipped in a container?
There are containers that will fit just about any kind of common vehicle. Cars such as sedans, SUVs, minivans, and trucks all can be shipped in a container. Furthermore, motorcycles and even some boats and RVs can be shipped in a container. The only vehicles that we cannot provide container shipping for re overweight vehicles such as farm machinery and excavators. When shipping smaller vehicles, we can even fit more than one in a container, allowing you to ship all vehicles together!
